Maybe it's because I'm turning another year older today, or maybe it's just because...but today I'm both a little nostalgic and completely in awe of modern technology. A few weeks ago when I was down south visiting the family, I went through a bunch of my grandmother's old photographs. There were a bunch of old b/w photos of my father and uncle on one of their early visits to California in the late 40's. I'm in California right now and am marveling at how much has changed. I took out my cel phone and snapped a photograph of the back yard, emailed it to myself and am now uploading it to my blog via a wireless broadband connection...all in the course of just a few minutes. No taking rolls of film to the drugstore to be developed. No waiting. It's all been done instantly. Now the quality of the photo leaves a lot to be desired, but it's a new camera/cel phone and I'm just figuring it all out, but still you get the point. Technology is changing faster every day. In my lifetime, I've seen the advent of VCRs, cel phones, fax machines, home computers, CD's, Tivo, and all the other things I don't care to live without. I, for one, find it very exciting and can't wait to see where it all leads to in my lifetime. Happy Memorial Day.
